Expressive Acrylics - 5 days - GOLD COAST - NOVEMBER 2024 with Clair Bremner

One of our most popular tutors is back with a 5 day Expressive Acrylic workshop on the Gold Coast.  If you crave using bright beautiful colours in a loose and free way, then join Clair where you can take your time to create canvases filled with colour under Clair's step to step guidance. Clair will be working through a number of themes and you can work from the provided images or bring your own reference materials.

WORKSHOP INFORMATION

Learn how to create your own expressive acrylic paintings during this exclusive five-day workshop in Benowa, QLD. Clair will teach you how to take inspiration from images and push the boundaries by creating a loose, bright and expressive landscape, still life and floral artworks.

You will learn about perspective, colour mixing, mark making, and general acrylic painting techniques and tricks.

MATERIALS

  • Acrylic paint in the following colours (make sure you bring lots of white as this is generally the colour that you will run out of. Titanium White, Phthalo Blue, Prussian Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Napthol Crimson, Magenta or Magenta Quin Violet, Lemon Yellow or Yellow Light Hansa, Cadmium Yellow (deep or mid). Feel free to bring along any other colours you like as well, these are the main colours that I will be using. The aim is to have a “warm” and “cool” version of each of the primary colours, so if you are going to substitute make sure you have one of each).
  • Note: Any heavy body, professional acrylic paint will do, as long as it is from good quality brands
  • Avoid Jo Sonja's, Kaisercraft, Mont Marte and other “Craft paint” brands because they are usually too watery and transparent.
  • Brushes: You will need a selection of soft acrylic brushes in different sizes, both flat and round. A flat brush that is at least 2” wide will come in handy.
  • Optional: Hair Dryer - if you think you will be too impatient to wait for the paint to dry.
  • Canvas: 5 x Canvases – Clair recommends maximum 50cm. Clair loves to work in square format but it is not essential.
  • A sketchbook
  • A3 watercolor paper pad (300gsm)
  • A basic watercolor pan set of your choice
  • A tube of white gouache
  • Sketching pencils
  • Notebook
  • Palette - Large plastic
  • Water container
  • Table easels will be provided however if you prefer a standing easel, you are welcome to bring your own and use a larger canvas size.
