This time last year we had no idea that we were about to launch one of the most successful local art exhibitions the Tweed had seen in years! It was a bit surreal. One minute I was chatting to people I knew and the the next minute I couldn't see the paintings through the people! That was our first ever exhibition of student works. Nearly 200 people showed up to share our night.
One year on we are more organised (slightly), have all been painting a year longer and are getting very excited to be able to share with the community just some of the amazing things that I see daily at Artable.
This year we moved our exhibition from the Community Centre to the newly reopened Escape Gallery at 1 Brisbane Street Murwillumbah where under the steady guidance of Mealie (Gallery Director) we can offer our students the real exhibition experience. I have ordered the champagne, cupcakes and music (Courtesy of my favourite local guitarist Milan Martin) and we are ready to go. We have an additional feature - we are setting up a French Quarter to show off some of the artworks and pictures from our recent French Art Adventure. We will feature special offers on our 2015 travel and workshops amongst other goodies. I have organised lucky door prizes and gifts for each of our hard working students.
Feel free to come along and celebrate the end of year with us. Once again I have been amazed at the growth in everyone's artworks and the art at 'Coast & Country' (our theme) will be amazing.
