Pastel Portraits in Realism APRIL with David Wells

If you are someone who loves to get your art as close to a photo as you can, then this is the workshop for you. You don't need to be a good drawer, images are traced so you can focus on learning David's rendering technique. David will break down his technique to achieving photo-realistic portraits over this 2 day workshop. Perfect for anyone with that streak of wanting to get things 'right'. Pastels pencils blend easier than colour pencils, giving you complete control over this versatile medium. Don't miss out!

David will take you step by step through the process of creating photo-realistic Portraits in Pastels. You do not need any drawing skills as all images are traced so you can focus on learning the shading and colour techniques. This is the perfect workshop for those that love to try and get their artworks as close to photo-realism as possible. If you love loose gestural drawing and mark-making, then this is not the workshop for you - this one is for those that like to spend the time on getting something 'right'.

Those that have done David's workshop before you will love working from his new images in 2019.

Day 1 - Focus on facial features, particular attention on eyes.

  • tonal values, materials, techniques specific to pastel
  • exploring your own mark and colour scheme
