David will take you step by step through the process of creating photo-realistic Portraits in Pastels. You do not need any drawing skills as all images are traced so you can focus on learning the shading and colour techniques. This is the perfect workshop for those that love to try and get their artworks as close to photo-realism as possible. If you love loose gestural drawing and mark-making, then this is not the workshop for you - this one is for those that like to spend the time on getting something 'right'.
Those that have done David's workshop before you will love working from his new images in 2019.
Day 1 - Focus on facial features, particular attention on eyes.
- tonal values, materials, techniques specific to pastel
- exploring your own mark and colour scheme
Day 2. Cloth and hands
- Build on day 1 to further explore your pallet and person use of tone and quality of mark.
David’s relaxed, but highly informative teaching style creates a relaxed in friendly atmosphere is these workshops, book early, this will sell out fast.
Paper and reference material will be supplied, however please bring your own pastels and pastel pencils, as building your own pallet is a key component.
(NB. The more pastel colours you have, the more colour choices you can make - the list below is enough for the workshop)
