Learn to Draw Colour Pencil - 1 Day AUGUST with Martina Pook

Learn the techniques specific to using colour pencils. There is a wide variety of different pencils, shading techniques, papers and mediums that are used to get high realism effects when using colour pencil. Come along to our 1 day beginner course and get the basics.

You will learn to apply the various coloured pencil techniques and how to avoid the most common mistakes made with this medium. You will go home with three smaller drawings and will have a good understanding of:

  • the three major techniques: Layering, burnishing and working on coloured paper.
  • Pencil Brands and Paper Types
  • Tools and Materials
  • the varied and exciting blending tools available today
  • other tips and tricks


All materials are included so you can just come along and learn the process.


This workshop is being held at ALL SAINTS Anglican College, Highfield Drive Merrimac. Take the main entrance to the high school with the large Blue All Saints sign out the front of the school. Drive to the end of the car park and park. You will see the sign for the Visual Arts Centre there.

Meet the Teach

Martina Pook

Martina received her arts training at the Peter Schneider Atelier in Germany and became a commercial illustrator for major companies, such as BP, BHP, Queensland Goverment, Channel Ten etc. She also finished a degree in Graphic Design at the QSPGA in Brisbane. and worked for five years as a senior art teacher at the Gold Coast Art School in Southport.

She is former director of Ilustration House Pty Ltd, and The Art Directory. She has held numerous roles within the arts industry, including the presentation and lecturing of art business courses and discussion rounds for emerging artists and teaches art since 1999 and has now joined the teaching team of Artable to find more time for painting.
