Zoe Sernack
Zoe Sernack creates imagined landscapes that reflect the intricate forms of nature both above and below the surface. Her work weaves together observation, memory, and the sensory experience of place.
Zoe holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The National Art School and has been a finalist in numerous prestigious art prizes, including the Salon des Refusés (Wynne), Fisher’s Ghost Award, Hornsby Art Award, Gosford Art Award, Into the Light Art Award, and the Lethbridge 20,000 Art Award.
An avid observer, she often sketches plants in Sydney’s gardens and parks, translating these observations into works on timber boards. Using a soft, delicate color palette, combined with carving and textured mark-making, she captures the rhythms of the Australian bush as both seen and felt. Zoe’s aim is not to depict the landscape but to evoke a visual connection—whether it’s a sense of place, an emotion, or a memory.
With 28 years of practice and over 75 exhibitions to her name, Zoe is a seasoned artist deeply committed to her lifelong creative journey.
“I am endlessly captivated by the intelligence of the natural world—its underground networks and the flourishing compositions we see above ground. The Australian landscape and its abundant botanicals remain a constant source of inspiration.” – Zoe Sernack
