Tasmanian Art Workshop - 2018 Painting Holiday with Alan Flattman

Australians don't necessarily want the rest of the world to find out about Tasmania. Some of the best wineries, the freshest seafood and the cleanest air in the world are just a few of the things you can expect. Wildlife here is abundant and the landscape diverse. Whilst on the mainland of Australia you need to drive hours to see the landscape change, in Tasmania you can see it change in just a few kilometres giving you a chance to experience a range of landscapes.

If you like your holidays to be a combination of comfortable accommodation, great food and an experienced tutor to guide your painting to the next level, then this is the trip for you. Join us!

For most visitors, a trip to Australia might include a visit to Sydney to see the Harbour Bridge or a combination of ticking off a list of other famous landmarks. What these visitors miss out on is a true Australian experience. We have hand crafted Alan Flattman's workshop for you to experience a part of Australia that not many overseas visitors bother to put on their itinerary.

As a passionate plein-air artist, your host Gillian has done all of the hard work and picked out the most paintable sites and narrowed down the best wines to drink (it was a tough job, but someone had to do it!). As a result, you get to see a range of diversity in the one place.

Our itinerary for Alan Flattman ticks all of the boxes:

- Beautiful accommodation in classically converted convict buildings

- Plein-air painting that features local historical sites in Tasmania (bridges, houses, streetscapes and more) as well as beautiful beaches & properties

- A chance to witness the Fairy Penguins that come ashore in the historical Georgetown

- A chance to get up close and personal with our Australian Wildlife experience at Trowunna

- Visits to two of Tasmania's famous historical homesteads

- 2 nights in the city of Hobart to paint the harbour and visit the Saturday morning artisan & food markets and to dine on the fresh seafood of the local region

- A visit to Port Arthur to uncover some of Australia's darker history

Our workshops are designed to immerse you in an area rather than trying to see too much. Painters will have structured 3-4 hour painting sessions either morning or afternoon with Alan. The rest of the time is yours to enjoy as you please. There are many walks surrounding our accommodation, a studio to settle yourself in to more painting and we are happy to drop you into town at any time for some shopping. Non-painting partners are welcome to join us as well, they will be able to relax and wind down with Gillian's partner Steve on hand to transport anywhere.

We look forward to sharing this very special place with you and our unique part of Australia, please don't hesitate to reach out with any further questions.
