One of the only complaints we ever hear from our students is that they can't pick which workshop to do and wish that they could do all of them - well now you can! Well....sort of :)
We have been on the hunt for a workshop facility where we could nestle you all into some quiet & comfortable accommodation and let us bring the artists to you. We finally found a beautiful organic farm nestled into the hills behind Byron Bay with a large, light-filled studio, just waiting for us to get creative.
Each day we bring you a new artist and medium to work with and all of the materials that you need to create.
That's right, you need NO MATERIALS at all.
We are bringing you the teachers, the materials, the meals & the accommodation so that you can simply come along and enjoy a creative holiday without the hassle. Just make sure you leave some room to take home your gorgeous masterpieces at the end of the retreat.
Wed 15 May - Watercolour
Thurs 16 May - Inks
Fri 17 May - Acrylics
Sat 18 May - Drawing
Sun 19 May - Visit to Tweed Gallery
(See full workshop descriptions under 'ITINERARY' link below)
You will be working with 4 of our best teachers to complete a new workshop each day:
We have designed the perfect 1 day workshop where you can get the basics out of the way so that you can enjoy the art of watercolour. There are a few tips and tricks you need to learn to get confident with using this medium and this 1 day workshop is designed to cover them all.
This workshop will move you away from straight 'copying' and into the 'Imagined Landscape'. You will have the opportunity to work in acrylic on canvas win a loose and colourful way.
You will be playing with Alcohol inks on Yupo paper & other mediums that handle inks well. Inks are full of pure pigment and once you learn what mediums to add to them, are a fun and exciting way to create unique works of art.
Throughout the day we will be taking you through our hugely successful beginner's drawing course to help you learn the ropes to get started (or come back to!) drawing.
25-29 September 2019
We have group accommodation at the farm. You will have a room to yourself with the opportunity to bring a non-painting partner for only $600.
$2395pp & $600 for non-painting partners (sharing a bed) who want to join you and relax on the farm for the 5 days.
A continental breakfast is provided each morning as well as 4 x lunches & 4 x dinners. You will need to buy your own lunch on the day we visit the Tweed Regional Art Gallery (cafe on site).
The climate at this time of year is painting perfect - spring. You can expect weather around 20-25 during the day and 16-20 at nights.
Pack painting clothes & sturdy walking shoes if you wish to do some walking at the property. A good waterproof/windproof jacket is great for when the weather turns cooler. Bring swimming gear too for the sauna and pool.
The closest airport is the Gold Coast. There are plenty of operators that can provide airport transfers at a reasonable cost - please contact us if you need a referral.
Travel insurance is highly recommended and is to be organised by you. You can get cancellation cover attached to your insurance in the event that you need to cancel inside our refund dates.
We will be painting as a group from 9.30-4pm each day except for the first day where we will start at 10am. The rest of the time is yours to enjoy.

Day 3: Drawing Skills
Today you will be learning the 4 main pillars to creating successful drawings. Artable has a time tested system of teaching anyone to draw realistically no matter who they are or what experience they have had.
You will be learning:
- What materials to use and how to use them
- Where to start drawing and what steps to take to complete a drawing
- A basic measuring tool artists have been using for centuries to get our drawings to be the right size and shape.
- What you need to be looking for when you are drawing
- A process for correcting errors and making adjustments along the way
Artable has taught hundreds of people their steps to learning to draw. We believe that drawing is something that everyone can learn with the right teaching and the right tools.
